If you wait until the leaves have fallen from the trees, you get a clearer view of Brighton’s Royal Pavilion. Wait for the sun to set and the traffic to part and you see it lit up like a stage set.At a Brighton Festival reception there, a few years ago, the American host declared that they had nothing like it at home. This elicited the shouted response from the back, “And we’ve only got one!” However, this website is not the place to tell you all its amazing history or the connection between the Royal Pavilion and the word ‘shades’. It’s a very interesting story. You should read it some time.
